First International Software Technology Exchange Workshop 2011
November 23, 2011 Stockholm, Sweden
2011/11/23

General Information

Transfering results of academic research into real products or integrating into

industry ways-of-working is one of the key challenges for both academic

institutions and companies. Unfortunately this is true for computing systems

and software related research as well, with leading companies often unaware

of existing research and academic institutions struggling to find access to the

right groups and decision makers within the industry.

The prime goal of the First International Software Technology Exchange

Workshop (STEW) is to facilitate knowledge exchange and dissemination of

academic results within companies by providing a forum through which

researchers can gain access to interested industry representatives who have

the interest and opportunity to take the outcome of the research into real

products or software product development. The workshop also strives to

stimulate networking among academia and industry attendees.

The Program Committee will consist exclusively of industrial representatives.

All accepted submissions will be published and publicized through Swedsoft’s

(the alliance of Swedish companies developing software-intensive systems)

webpage, www.swedsoft.se (by submitting, authors automatically give

permission for publication on the Swedsoft page). The authors of the best papers

will be offered the possibility to continue the research and development of their

ideas within one of the member companies.

Areas of Interest

We seek submissions from researchers working in any field related to software

technologies and software development methodologies and whose research has

reached a level where industrial adoption becomes possible. The main fields of

interest include, but are not limited to

- Emerging or established software technologies such as many-core programming,

real-time systems, cloud computing, modeling, novel programming paradigms or

languages, testing techniques for both embedded and large scale distributed

  systems etc

- Software development techniques, especially in the context of embedded systems,

large scale and geographically distributed organizations, agile and post-agile ways

  of working etc

- Software governance methods, studies and proposals

Submissions shall be in standard, 2-column ACM format, no longer than 3 pages.

While quantitative results are welcome, we are mostly interested in the novelty

aspect of your research as well as your view on the relevance for the industry and

how it can be put in practice in an industrial setting. Both unpublished as well as

recently published papers are accepted; publication at this event does not prevent

future publication at scientific conferences. The Program Committee – composed

exclusively of industrial representatives – will give priority to papers that can clearly

articulate both the results of the research as well as the concrete areas of

applicability. At least one author of each accepted paper will be required to attend

the workshop and present the paper in a 20 minutes session. We encourage you to

prepare a demo of your technology, if applicable.
